OpenAI Hires Meta VP Dave Dugan to Lead Ad Sales

OpenAI hired Dave Dugan, a former Meta vice president, to lead its advertising sales operations, the Wall Street Journal reported. The hire signals OpenAI's intent to build an advertising business on top of ChatGPT and its other consumer products. Dugan spent over a decade at Meta running parts of its advertising division, which generates the vast majority of the company's revenue. OpenAI has been exploring advertising as a revenue stream to supplement its subscription and API businesses as it seeks to justify its $300 billion valuation.
