Nintendo Cuts Switch 2 Production by 33% After Weaker-Than-Expected Holiday Sales

Nintendo plans to produce approximately 4 million Switch 2 units this quarter, down roughly 33% from its original target of 6 million, following weaker-than-expected holiday sales, Bloomberg reports. Demand shortfalls were most pronounced in the United States. Nintendo had set ambitious production targets for the Switch 2 launch period, banking on the successor console repeating the original Switch's breakout success. The original Switch sold over 140 million units before the Switch 2 launched. Nintendo has not commented publicly on the production adjustment. The revision signals that the gaming hardware market continues to face headwinds, with consumers showing more caution on new console purchases even during holiday periods.
