IBM said it joined and cooled two cryogenic modules into one operating environment, a modular architecture designed to connect hundreds of quantum chips. The company said the two modules cooled to 4 Kelvin in under five days and then below 15 millikelvin; each enclosure provides up to 12 times the wiring space of IBM's most widely used quantum systems. IBM plans to install Nighthawk processors in the modules later this year for further testing.
