Slack processes 127 million automated tool calls every week, a figure doubling quarter over quarter, Salesforce said. These calls use the MCP standard to let AI agents retrieve context across services such as GitHub, Salesforce and Jira and take actions from Slack.

Salesforce says 1.9 million users interact with third-party agents in Slack weekly. Apps and agents generate fifty percent of messages, a measure that includes automation beyond AI agents alone.
