# Preprint reports improved robot learning on rare obstacle-pushing tasks

Researchers report in a preprint that a method for selecting past training experiences raised rare-task success from 0.49 to 0.69 on a three-joint arm pushing an object around an obstacle, against a labeled-oracle ceiling of 0.74.

The method gives unusual experiences more weight during training. When rare situations depend on behavior relative to a goal, it scores short sequences rather than individual transitions. The researchers deliberately omit the importance-weight correction used in prioritized replay because full correction cancels the method's effect, making training match uniform sampling.
