Anthropic proposes committing 5% of its shares to public benefit fund

Anthropic logo Image: Primary
Anthropic announced plans to commit 5% of its shares to a new Public Benefit Fund, subject to stockholder approval. An additional 2% could be added at the board's discretion for every 50% increase in the company's value above a set baseline. The company is establishing the fund as a wholly owned LLC, allowing it to consider nonprofit donations or direct distributions to specific populations. Anthropic identified potential labor market disruption from AI as one area the fund could address. The equity held by the fund will not be used for lobbying or political giving. Anthropic said it would share more about governance and valuation milestones in the coming months.
