Google is reportedly partnering with luxury fashion brand Gucci to develop AI-powered smart glasses set to launch in 2027, according to sources familiar with the plans. The collaboration aims to create a stylish wearable that people might actually want to wear. Gucci parent company Kering is planning to bring the glasses to market next year as part of Google's strategy to make smart glasses more fashionable. This follows Google's previous partnerships with War The tech company's first pair of Android XR glasses, codenamed 'Project Aura,' are expected to launch this year with a design similar to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses. Google's renewed push into smart glasses comes over a decade after Google Glass failed to gain consumer traction. Unlike many tech products, smart glasses need to be fashionable to succeed in the market. Partnering with luxury brands allows tech companies to put different brand names on their devices, addressing concerns that some consumers may not want tech company branding prominently displayed on their faces.
