Tinder is expanding its partnership with World, the identity verification company co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, offering users free boosts in the app for proving they are human.

Users who verify their identity by physically visiting one of World's facial scanning orbs can receive five free boosts on Tinder. The identity verification service, which was tested through a pilot program in Japan last year, is now being expanded to select markets including Japan and the United States.

To verify they are not bots or AI agents, users must visit a World orb in person. The device takes pictures of a user's face and eyes, then encrypts and stores them on the user's phone. After completing the facial scan, users can connect their World ID to eligible apps like Tinder, which displays a 'verified human badge' on their profile.

World is also launching a dedicated World ID app for managing 'proof of human' verification across various services beyond Tinder, including Zoom and Docusign. While Tinder users can verify their profiles with photos or government IDs, the offer for five free boosts is currently only available for those who use World ID verification.
