ThreatFabric researchers reported that Android malware called Manic can relay encrypted stolen data through nearby compromised devices when a victim device cannot reach its command-and-control server. The malware can use Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy and supports routes of up to four relay hops by default. Researchers said Manic has been active since at least February and targets banking, government identity, payment, crypto, messaging and authenticator applications, with Ukraine its primary focus.
