# AWS opens general availability of T8i burstable EC2 instances

Amazon Web Services said burstable EC2 T8i instances are generally available, using custom sixth-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (Granite Rapids) that the company said are available only on AWS.

AWS said the instances are among its lowest-cost EC2 options, with up to 30% better price performance and up to 70% higher compute performance than T3 instances. They target low-to-moderate CPU workloads including microservices, development environments, data processing, and low-traffic websites. Four sizes each offer two vCPUs, the same CPU credit system as T3, and Unlimited mode by default.

T8i is available On-Demand and Spot in multiple U.S., Asia Pacific, Canada, and Europe regions; Savings Plans are coming soon. Only shared tenancy is supported, and t8i.micro and t8i.small are in the Free Tier.
