# AWS adds private network access for automated public certificate issuance

_Published Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 11:09 AM EDT · Infrastructure · Latest · Tier 2 — Notable_

AWS says Certificate Manager now lets customers request and renew public TLS certificates through PrivateLink, keeping issuance traffic within the AWS network. Customers can route compatible clients through a private interface endpoint in their virtual private cloud.

Private DNS directs the existing certificate service URL to that endpoint, so existing clients need no configuration changes. The feature is available in all commercial AWS Regions, with CloudTrail logging and CloudWatch metrics retained for auditing. Standard PrivateLink interface endpoint charges apply.
