Waymo says it is preparing to bring autonomous ride-hailing to Spain, starting in the Region of Madrid, and aims to welcome its first riders in 2027. Its electric Jaguar I-PACE vehicles will begin appearing on regional roads in the coming days. The company plans to start with manual driving before conducting technical validation with trained local autonomous specialists behind the wheel to adapt its driving system to local traffic and road conditions. Waymo says it is investing in local operations, engaging with partners and authorities, and familiarising emergency services with its technology. Passenger service remains a future target.
