A dairy company owned by the Atlanta-based Coca-Cola Company was recently hit by a ransomware attack, resulting in the suspension of its U.S. operations, Coca-Cola announced Thursday. Fairlife, LLC, identified unauthorized access by a third party to a portion of its systems, including its production-related systems, in connection with a ransomware event, according to Coca-Cola. The company has notified law enforcement and is conducting its own investigation into the breach and assessing its impact on business operations with help from cybersecurity experts. The full scope, nature and impacts of the incident are not yet known, Coca-Cola said in a press release, though the company added that product quality and safety have not been impacted. The incident has caused Fairlife production operations in the U.S. to be temporarily suspended. Production operations in Canada have not been affected. The company is working diligently to complete the investigation and restore the systems and impacted operations, Coca-Cola said.
