Google opens free Vids video generation to Google account holders

Google has opened a free tier of its Vids video generator to anyone with a Google account, Decrypt reports. Google says the tool can produce 1080p clips using Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, with controls to extend scenes, set clip duration and upscale older footage. Generated clips carry an invisible SynthID watermark. Decrypt's hands-on test produced only 720p clips, limiting what it could confirm about the advertised resolution. Personal accounts receive a standard free allowance, while paid plans offer more generation. Workspace Business and Enterprise subscribers get larger pools and administrator controls.
