# Mercedes-Benz selects Nvidia platform for future automated driving

Mercedes-Benz will develop its next generation of driver assistance and automated driving systems with Nvidia, the companies announced Friday. Volvo expanded its Nvidia partnership Thursday, putting both carmakers on the same computing, driving software and safety platform.

Mercedes plans to connect its MB.OS operating system to Nvidia's Hyperion computer and sensors. Alpamayo software supplies city driving assistance and automated parking, while Halos provides a parallel safety system. The companies say the platform supports development of Level 4 vehicles, which drive without human takeover within defined conditions.

Volvo plans gradual introduction of eyes-off and mind-off driving. Neither carmaker identified the first models or launch dates for the new systems.
