Google announced Tuesday that its NotebookLM service is moving to the Gemini 3.5 model and adding embedded support for a feature called Antigravity. The update also brings support for more file types and streamlined web source integration. Gemini 3.5 Flash debuted at Google I/O this year with promises of faster and more efficient processing. Google said companies can save on token costs by moving projects to the new Flash model while getting outputs of similar or better quality. The company conducted side-by-side evaluations of NotebookLM on the old Gemini 3.1 branch and the updated 3.5 across five core evaluation dimensions including Accuracy and Quality, Multilingual Support, Large Document Analysis, Document Creation, and Advanced Research. Google said NotebookLM averaged a 65 percent win rate versus the older model. NotebookLM now has its own cloud computer allowing it to use Antigravity to write and run code for research goals. Google said the service will come with a set of more than 100 software skills to help build workflows with notebooks that previously required jumping between apps. NotebookLM launched in 2023.
