Researchers report in an arXiv preprint that their Hygiene-NSP planner outperformed evaluated baseline planners at completing household tasks safely while accounting for contamination and user priorities. It achieved safe resolution of 94.4% of benchmark instances and optimal safe resolution of 90.4%.

The planner combines language-model interpretation, reconstruction of prior contacts, and a constraint solver to select hygiene treatments and task actions. The new HygieneRoboBench contains 624 instances across 134 task families, tracking contamination through two grippers and shared objects. The evaluation also found that safe completion alone does not guarantee the lowest execution cost under a user's priorities.
