Square launched a kiosk that lets customers place orders through a touchscreen or conversational AI, The Verge reported. The device is available starting today for $1,999 to businesses with a Square Plus or Premium subscription, with an additional $99-per-device monthly software fee. Square says the voice system understands a seller's menu and responds in real time, allowing customers to ask questions and request modifications or substitutions. The kiosk has a 21.5-inch touchscreen, presence detection to welcome approaching customers, a contactless payment reader and a card slot.
