Vanguard has agreed to acquire Altruist, a wealth-technology and custody platform serving independent financial advisers. The companies said Altruist will remain a standalone business with its leadership, brand and operating model after closing, which is expected later in 2026 subject to customary conditions and regulatory approvals. Altruist combines self-clearing brokerage custody with account opening, trading, portfolio management, billing and reporting software, and says it serves more than 6,000 advisers. Financial terms were not disclosed.
