# Nvidia discusses insurance for loans backed by AI chips

Nvidia has held early talks with insurers about covering loans secured by its AI chips, the Financial Times reported. The proposed cover would protect lenders to smaller cloud providers if a borrower defaulted and the chips fetched less than the outstanding debt when resold.

Nvidia is working with reinsurance broker Howden Re on one possible structure and has supplied at least one insurer with data on chip depreciation and the expected future value of computing power. The talks may not produce a deal.
