AMD signed a deal with Core Scientific to secure up to 2.5 gigawatts of data-center capacity as the chipmaker expands infrastructure for AI computing demand, Reuters reported.

The partnership gives AMD access to more than 500 megawatts of Core Scientific AI-ready capacity starting in 2027 for customer deployments, with room to expand to 2.5 gigawatts. AMD will receive market-priced warrants to buy Core Scientific common stock subject to commercial conditions; financial terms were not disclosed.

Core Scientific, which has been shifting from crypto toward AI and high-performance computing hosting, will also work with AMD on physical infrastructure design and deployment of AMD chips and software. AMD chief strategy officer of corporate development Mathew Hein said Core Scientific's AI-ready portfolio expands customer access to infrastructure needed to deploy AMD AI solutions at scale.

In premarket trading cited by Reuters, Core Scientific shares jumped 6% while AMD fell 4%, tracking other chipmakers.
