Some Linux subsystem maintainers now expect patches to receive a Sashiko AI review before acceptance, ZDNET reported following Linus Torvalds' discussion at Open Source Summit Europe. Torvalds said the automated code review system's public reviews now appear on the Linux Kernel Mailing List.

The requirement does not apply to all pull requests. Torvalds said AI tools are improving the code base by finding genuine security problems and overlooked issues in old drivers, but are also stressing maintainers. Convincing fabricated bug reports can take substantial human effort to disprove, while narrowly targeted patches can address a symptom without fixing its underlying cause.
