Versatile RobotX secures more than €1.17 million for farm-robot rollout
Image: EU-Startups University of Essex spin-out Versatile RobotX has secured more than €1.17 million in investment and grant support to commercialise agricultural robots, according to EU-Startups.
The package combines British Design Fund investment, Innovate UK Growth Catalyst support and Defra Farming Innovation Programme grants. The company said it will use the capital for product development, manufacturing readiness, customer engagement and commercial expansion. Its picker and hydroponic harvester are intended to automate harvesting and crop-handling tasks, and the company says its technology has undergone field trials with UK growers.
