General Dynamics plans offline voice controls for combat vehicles

General Dynamics Land Systems has announced plans to integrate Primordial Labs' Anura software into combat vehicles, New Atlas reports. The system is designed to let crews use ordinary language to manage sensors, displays, communications and uncrewed systems without an internet connection. Anura would provide a single interface for additional subsystems and software updates without separate workstations or control schemes. Battlefield operation presents constraints: the system must handle communications blackouts and electronic warfare, while vehicle noise requires crews to use personal helmet microphones.
