# AWS extends ECS S3 Files support to EC2 tasks

_Published Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 9:07 PM EDT · Infrastructure, Products · Latest · Tier 2 — Notable_

Amazon ECS now supports Amazon S3 Files for tasks using the Amazon EC2 launch type, allowing containerized applications to access S3 data as a shared file system. AWS said workloads can use standard file-system operations without code changes or copying and staging files first. S3 Files had already supported ECS tasks on Fargate and ECS Managed Instances. The EC2 extension is available in all AWS commercial and GovCloud US Regions.
