Google announced a €13bn investment in Finland's AI infrastructure, its largest single investment in Europe, funding three new data centres in Kajaani, Muhos and Vaala and an expansion of its existing Hamina site.

As part of the package, Google signed a 22-year contract with Finnish utility Fortum to buy up to 50% of the output from the Loviisa nuclear power plant, which currently generates about 10% of Finland's electricity. Fortum said the commitment would support an investment programme to extend the plant's life and increase generating capacity.

Google said construction is set to take place in 2027 and 2028, and that the investment is expected to support more than 37,000 construction jobs and boost Finland's GDP by €3.6bn a year.
