Waymo plans Munich testing ahead of proposed 2027 robotaxi launch
Image: Primary Waymo said it will begin testing autonomous vehicles in Munich in the coming weeks, initially driving them manually to map local roads before testing with trained autonomous specialists behind the wheel.
The company said the work is intended to adapt its driving system to Munich conditions and lay groundwork for a commercial German ride-hailing service toward the end of 2027. Waymo said it is engaging local, state and federal officials on approvals and plans local fleet operations and high-skilled jobs.
