Rep. Torres asks SEC to review Truth Social API for market-access concerns

Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.) has asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate whether Truth Social parent Trump Media & Technology Group's plan to sell Wall Street firms real-time access to President Trump's posts could violate federal securities laws, according to a letter obtained by Axios. The Truth API is slated to debut Aug. 1 with real-time access to posts from the platform's top 10 trending accounts, at a reported licensing fee of up to $100,000 per month. Torres urged a pre-launch review over securities law and investor protection concerns; a TMTG spokesperson told Axios the API offers the fastest way to ingest publicly available Truth Social data.
