New York-based Genius AI, formerly known as GlossGenius, has raised $44 million in Series D financing at a $1.15 billion valuation, bringing total capital raised to more than $125 million, citybiz reported.

Lux Capital led the round, with participation from Bessemer Venture Partners, Imaginary Ventures, 2048 Ventures, L Catterton Growth Fund, and StepStone Private Ventures.

Twins Danielle Cohen-Shohet and Leah Cohen-Shohet founded the company in 2017 as GlossGenius, building an all-in-one platform for salons and beauty professionals that combines scheduling, payments, marketing, and business management. Genius AI has expanded into med spas, physical therapy practices, and wellness studios.

CEO Danielle Cohen-Shohet said the company serves more than 125,000 businesses across half of all U.S. ZIP codes, has eliminated 112 million hours of admin work, and is approaching a $200 million run-rate. The company said its strategy centers on embedding artificial intelligence into operational workflows to automate tasks such as appointment management rather than offering standalone AI tools.

Lux Capital is described in the report as a New York venture firm focused on science and technology companies, managing more than $7 billion in assets.
