Google opens SynthID website with detection across partner watermarks

Google opens SynthID website with detection across partner watermarks Image: Primary
Google has opened a dedicated SynthID website that lets anyone check media for invisible AI watermarks, Ars Technica reports. The expanded detector supports distinct watermarks from partners including OpenAI, Nvidia and Kakao, rather than checking only Google's version. Apple support is coming soon. SynthID embeds signals in image and video pixels and audio waveforms. Previously, people outside Google's trusted tester program had to ask Gemini to check content. The public website reports whether SynthID was used to produce or edit media; unlike Google's internal tool, it does not highlight image regions containing the watermark.
