Report details local plain-text storage in ChatGPT Mac activity feature Image: Primary
OpenAI's newly launched Computer History feature for ChatGPT on macOS records clicks, keystrokes, keyboard shortcuts and app switches to build searchable memory, according to The Next Web. The report says the feature does not capture screenshots, recordings, microphone input or system audio, and excludes private browsing. Its memory files are stored locally as unencrypted plain-text Markdown; temporary event files are deleted after 48 hours. Business and Enterprise administrators must enable the feature before individual users can consent, and users can pause recording or exclude apps and websites. The report says it is unavailable in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK.
