Biohub announced on October 7 that partners in its Virtual Biology Initiative are committing $1.8 billion in funding, data, computation and measurement technology to support predictive AI models of biology. The expansion adds federal resources and $300 million collectively from Google DeepMind, Isomorphic Labs and Meta to an initiative announced in April.

DOE will invest more than $500 million over five years in measurement, modeling and computation. NIH will coordinate datasets developed through more than $500 million in prior federal investment, with Biohub helping standardize them for model training. The planned open resource will connect datasets through shared standards, common identifiers and a single access point; the total includes existing investments rather than solely new funding.
