Anthropic has revised a Claude Code restriction that blocked some legitimate game projects when developers referenced existing games, technical staff member Addy Osmani said. Version 2.1.317 updates a rule in the Opus 5.5 prompt that had discouraged recreating specific games but also interfered with requests describing desired mechanics.

Developers can now name a game to describe the kind of original project they want. Requests to copy an existing game will instead prompt Claude to offer something similar in the same genre.
