CISA said cyberattacks targeted more than 100 internet-exposed systems in the US water and wastewater sector during July. The attacks largely targeted programmable logic controllers used to control physical systems, according to the agency advisory cited by TechCrunch. The intrusions caused outages and disruption during response work, although the report says they had little effect on water and wastewater supplies.
