# AWS adds ordered delivery and retention to EventBridge event buses

AWS has launched an enhanced EventBridge Custom event bus that can share events across accounts, preserve their order and retain them for 24 hours by default. Customers can extend retention for up to one year, which lets them replay past events after an application error or when adding a new component.

The service also accepts JSON-based formats such as CloudEvents without changing their schema and can send filtered events to more than 250 AWS services. It is available at launch in fourteen AWS Regions. AWS renamed the earlier Custom event bus experience "classic" and says its existing APIs remain unchanged; the enhanced bus uses a new pricing model based on data transferred rather than event counts.
