Deloitte agreed to pay $21.5 million to resolve a Justice Department investigation into its diversity practices, without admitting liability. The department alleged that Deloitte business units tracked demographic goals and considered contributions to workforce-composition goals in evaluating senior leaders. The resolution arose through the DOJ's Civil Rights Fraud Initiative and concerns representations to the federal government by a contractor. Deloitte said it resolved the matter to avoid the cost and distraction of protracted litigation.
