AfterQuery Raises $30M Series A at $300M Valuation for AI Training Data

AfterQuery, a provider of coding and finance training data for artificial intelligence companies, has closed a $30 million Series A investment at a $300 million valuation. The San Francisco-based company, founded last year, has reached an annual revenue run rate exceeding $100 million. Chief Executive Officer Spencer Mateega and co-founder Carlos Georgescu, ages 23 and 22 respectively, built the company after leaving roles at talent marketplace Mercor, another venture-backed startup. AfterQuery supplies specialized datasets used to train large language models in software engineering and financial analysis tasks. The company reports that its data is used The round extends a streak of rapid value creation among young founders in the AI infrastructure sector. AfterQuery joins a growing category of data providers including Scale AI, which supplies annotation and training datasets for autonomous vehicles and other AI applications.
