GMO Internet Group opened a reward program on October 28 offering up to $1 million in total for information that helps lead to an arrest or international wanted notice over its Onamae.com Desktop Cloud breach. The service hosts Windows desktops used for foreign-exchange trading.

GMO confirmed customer information was stolen. Broker OANDA Japan linked unauthorized trades on some accounts to credentials it believes leaked from GMO servers. GMO counts 26,739 servers as potentially affected, rather than confirmed compromised.

GMO will pay every current user ¥5,000 and cover trading losses and fees it confirms resulted from the breach. It will not restart the breached systems; consenting customers will be offered six months free on a separate service.
