# SAFE-Mem preprint reports lower attack success against AI agent memory

_Published Monday, October 19, 2026 at 9:50 AM EDT · Science, AI · Latest · Tier 2 — Notable_

Researchers proposing SAFE-Mem report that their framework reduced attack success against AI agent memory by at least 77% relative to the strongest evaluated defense that retained legitimate memory use. The preprint tested four language-model backbones on MPBench and LoCoMo.

SAFE-Mem labels individual claims by kind, authority and scope, then retrieves information according to its permitted use. A graph links claims to source sentences and entities. The authors also report the highest answer accuracy among evaluated defenses, with improvements of up to 15%. The results concern these benchmark evaluations.
