Microsoft released the optional KB5127936 preview update for Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 26H2, adding improvements that let Cloud rebuild reinstall Windows using an image and drivers downloaded from Windows Update, even when the operating system will not start. The process does not require USB media or a custom image.

Windows recovery is also beginning to reuse eligible saved Wi-Fi profiles automatically, including supported certificate-based networks, so devices can connect during recovery without separately configured credentials. Administrators can disable that feature. The update includes 41 changes and fixes but no security patches; it lets users test changes before next month's Patch Tuesday rollout.
