Google announced Monday that its Gemini AI assistant can now create and edit images, diagrams and infographics directly inside Google Docs. The company said in a Workspace update that the feature uses the document's contents as context when generating visuals.

Users can ask Gemini to add a diagram explaining a proposal or turn a document into an infographic without leaving the app. The tool can also modify existing visuals through natural-language prompts, such as changing an aspect ratio or adjusting a style.

Gemini can apply a single prompt to multiple images at once, such as adding an infographic to each major section or applying a consistent look across several visuals. The options are accessible through the bottom bar and the Gemini side panel.

The feature is limited to Google Docs on the web and is rolling out gradually to eligible Workspace, education and Google AI plans. Google said it may take up to 15 days for all eligible users to gain access.
