The exchange temporarily suspended withdrawals while it investigates, though it says deposits and trading continue and customer balances remain accurate.
Chief executive Gracy Chen said an attacker compromised a backend wallet system, spoofed transaction data and triggered the process that authorized transfers. She said the activity resembles known North Korean operations, but the intrusion method remains under investigation. Bitget says its cold wallets and separately operated self-custodial wallet were unaffected.
