# Sony and Universal sue Suno over training its v6 music model

Sony and Universal Music Group have filed another lawsuit against AI music company Suno, alleging that its v6 model inherits copyright infringement from earlier models. The labels say Suno trained v6 on user creations produced by models they allege were trained on unlicensed music. Sony also alleges that Suno used an older model to teach the new one to reproduce its results.

Suno previously described v6 as trained from the ground up on a new dataset that included user data. It later confirmed that the data included user creations. The new complaint tests whether training on outputs from earlier models can carry forward alleged copyright violations.
