Samsung Electronics plans to work with central and local authorities to bring its first Yongin chip plant into operation in October 2029, rather than the second half of 2030. At a local science festival, the company reaffirmed its planned investment of about 360 trillion won ($260 billion) in the semiconductor complex.

Samsung also plans to reuse treated wastewater, including 120,000 tons a day from Hwaseong, 120,000 tons from Osan and 210,000 tons from Suwon. Three planned liquefied natural gas power facilities would supply chip plants and community facilities. The earlier operating date depends on coordination with government authorities.
