# GitHub reports widespread outage across API, Actions and Copilot

GitHub said it was investigating widespread performance problems affecting its website, API, Actions, webhooks, Issues and Pull Requests on Aug. 17. The company's status information showed roughly 20% error rates for web and API traffic, while archive and raw repository downloads were at about 50%; SAML, OIDC, SCIM and Team Sync were also affected. GitHub later confirmed degraded availability for Copilot. The cause was not disclosed and the investigation remained ongoing.
