OpenAI opens text-directed voice creation to all API users

OpenAI opens text-directed voice creation to all API users Image: Primary
OpenAI made its prompt-to-voice feature available to all API users on October 16, according to a note article citing its release notes. Developers can create voices by describing their characteristics in text, with up to 100 voices per organization. Voice creation is free; speaking with those voices incurs standard GPT-Live charges, with underlying model and tool fees charged separately. The rules prohibit imitating real people, celebrities or fictional characters and creating children's voices. Developers must tell listeners that the voice is AI-generated.
