# ChatGPT is now a partner for your most ambitious work

OpenAI announced Wednesday the launch of ChatGPT Work, an agent designed to handle complex, multi-step tasks across apps and files. The company said the agent can gather information across workflows to create finished materials such as spreadsheets, slides, documents and web applications. It can also stay with projects for hours by breaking them into smaller steps and completing them independently. OpenAI said ChatGPT Work is powered by its latest frontier model, GPT-5.6, which is also rolling out Wednesday and makes the chatbot state of the art at reasoning through multi-step tasks. The company said more than 5 million people use Codex every week and more than 1 million now use it for work outside software development. OpenAI said nearly 100% of teams inside the company now use ChatGPT Work and Codex. The company cited early testing examples from Zapier, RingCentral, Virgin Atlantic and NVIDIA. On web and mobile, ChatGPT Work is rolling out Wednesday for Pro, Enterprise and Edu plans and will reach Plus and Business plans over the next few days. In the desktop app, Chat, Work and Codex are available on every plan, including Free, and globally on Windows and Mac. OpenAI said the Codex app is merging with the new ChatGPT desktop app starting Wednesday.
