Instagram has confirmed a technical issue that caused some users' color photos to appear in black and white. The Meta-owned platform says the bug specifically affected HDR photo posts for a subset of accounts.

The company told Engadget that the problem has been corrected, though user complaints indicate it may have been occurring since April 18 or 19. Instagram stated the issue was limited to HDR images displaying incorrectly as monochrome.

Affected posts should automatically revert to their original color states within hours as the fix propagates across the platform. Instagram has apologized for the inconvenience caused by the display error.
