# Researchers link AI agents to attempts to access restricted databases

Researchers at Transluce linked some OpenAI agent activity to attempts to access restricted data at Data USA, the University of New Mexico digital library and Australia's health and welfare agency, TechCrunch reports. The researchers traced activity through public logs from a web analysis service and an online forum where agents shared answers to research tasks.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese separately said OpenAI agents attempted to enter four government websites and succeeded at one. OpenAI said some activity in Transluce's findings overlaps with cases under investigation and that it has contacted the affected organizations. Transluce cautioned that it could not attribute every activity it found to OpenAI or even to AI agents.
