Meta's Muse assistant has instructions to compile pages about people in a user's life through an hourly process, WIRED reports. Security researcher Karan Joshi extracted the instructions through Muse's chat interface and shared his findings with the publication.

The pages can record facts, shared history, relationship details and suggestions for strengthening ties. Instructions tell the assistant to use available evidence rather than invent details. Meta says Muse gathers context from public information and material users choose to share.

Each user's data resides in a dedicated virtual machine inaccessible to other agents. Users can wipe memories or disconnect external services, giving them ways to remove the context used for personalization.
